WHAT IS THE ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT GRANT (EDG)?
The Enterprise Development Grant is a government grant administered by Enterprise Singapore that helps Singapore-based companies grow, transform, and become more competitive. It reimburses up to 50% of qualifying project costs for SMEs. It’s a grant, not a loan. No repayment required.
EDG funds custom, consultancy-led projects across three pillars:Â
- Core Capabilities (branding, strategy, HR, finance, service excellence),Â
- Innovation & Productivity (process redesign, automation, tech development), and
- Market Access (overseas expansion and internationalisation).

More elaboration will be provided below.
WHY EDG – AND NOT JUST PSG
Most Singapore SMEs have heard of government grants. Many go straight for the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) because it sounds simple – pick a software from a list, get some money back.
But here’s what most business owners don’t realise: PSG gives you a tool. EDG gives you a transformation.
PSG funds off-the-shelf software – a CRM, an accounting system, a basic website. Useful, but limited. You’re picking from a fixed list of pre-approved vendors, and the scope is narrow. It solves a task, not a business problem.
EDG is different. It funds custom, consultancy-led projects designed specifically for your business. A proper brand strategy. A financial restructuring plan. A complete process overhaul. An overseas market entry roadmap. These are the projects that move the needle – not just digitise what you’re already doing.

WHAT EDG FUNDS
Core Capabilities
Projects that strengthen how your business is run.
- Brand & Marketing – Develop a real brand strategy, positioning, and marketing roadmap. Not a logo redesign – a strategic foundation for customer acquisition and market differentiation. (Our most popular EDG project.)
- Business Strategy – Market analysis, competitive positioning, growth roadmaps. For companies that know they need to evolve but aren’t sure where to focus.
- Financial Management – Costing models, cash flow systems, financial controls. Especially valuable for companies scaling beyond founder-managed finances.
- Human Capital – HR frameworks, compensation design, talent management. Critical when you’re growing past 15–20 employees and ad-hoc HR no longer works.
- Service Excellence – Customer experience frameworks that increase retention and repeat business.

Innovation & Productivity
Projects that make your business more efficient or create new capabilities.
- Process Redesign – Map and restructure workflows to cut waste and bottlenecks. Often reveals that the problem isn’t your people – it’s your process.
- Automation – Implement systems that let you scale output without proportionally scaling headcount.
- Technology / Product Development – Build digital products or solutions that open new revenue streams.
Market Access
Projects that support overseas expansion.
- Internationalisation Strategy – Market entry planning, overseas marketing, distribution channel development.
Qualifying costs include: Third-party consultancy fees (must be CQI-certified), software & equipment, and internal manpower directly tied to the project.

S$100K Brand & Marketing project Had strong products selling through retail and wholesale, but no differentiated brand identity. Customers couldn’t tell them apart from competitors. The EDG-funded project developed a complete brand architecture, customer segmentation framework, and go-to-market strategy – giving the team a clear playbook to reposition in a crowded market and justify premium pricing.

You should also have at least 3 local employees. Your project must not have commenced before approval – no signing contracts or making payments to vendors beforehand.
Startups with little revenue or track record are generally not a fit – look at Startup SG instead. But subsidiaries of larger companies can qualify as long as group revenue is under S$100M or group employment is under 200.

There’s no fixed cap, but the project size should be proportional to your company’s revenue and headcount. Most of our clients’ projects range from S$50K to S$100K, with 50% funded by EDG.
We require a refundable deposit once you confirm you’d like to proceed. No payments are made to the consultant or vendor until your grant is approved by EnterpriseSG. After approval, you fund the project as it progresses and the grant amount is reimbursed upon completion.
It depends on what you need. PSG funds off-the-shelf software – typically up to S$10K. If that’s all you need, it’s fine. But if your challenge is strategic – you need a brand strategy, a business plan, better processes, or an expansion roadmap – EDG is the grant that will actually address the root issue. EDG projects typically range from S$50K to S$100K+, with 50% funded by the government. That’s a completely different level of impact. Many of our clients started by looking at PSG and realised EDG was the better fit once they understood the difference. The application and claims approval times are not that much varied between PSG and EDG too.
On average, 12 weeks for the application approval, and 12 weeks for the claims approval.
We handle it – from application to claims. That’s the whole point of working with us, to make it as easy and stress-free as possible for you.
Yes, as long as the same cost item isn’t claimed under two grants. Many clients use EDG alongside PSG, MRA, or SkillsFuture.
EnterpriseSG reviews your claims documentation to verify the project was completed as approved. Standard process, not an investigation. We help you keep proper records throughout.
